Ghana Petrol Station Explosion in capital Accra kills 150 People

An explosion at a petrol station in the Ghanaian capital Accra, have left at least 150 people dead. local media report has it that People taking refuge in the station during a heavy downpour were killed in the explosion.


About a dozen people were taken to hospital after the blast, which is believed to have been an accident linked to the downpour, Prince Billy Anaglate said.

The fire department in still removing bodies from the petrol station near Mkrumah Circle.
A fuel leak at the station caused the accident that also destroyed nearby buildings, Mahama said, announcing three days of national mourning would begin on Monday as well as the creation of a 50 million cedis ($12 million) recovery fund.

The floods have cut power supplies across much of the city, and left many homeless.
